Jakarta, October 28, 2021 - PT DCI Indonesia Tbk (DCI), the leading data center service provider in Indonesia, celebrates Sumpah Pemuda by carrying out several activities with Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) for cultural preservation, In addition to digital talent development together with SMK Mitra Industri MM2100 as part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR).

DCI Indonesia Participate in Cultural Conservation Through Saung Angklung Udjo

DCI participates in supporting cultural preservation through an angklung concert with SAU. About 20 employees of DCI Indonesia performed an angklung concert which was directly guided by SAU, by playing several songs that were shown on Youtube.

In 2020, tourism is one of the sectors most affected by the Covid-19 pandemic. Which results in a decrease in state revenue for tourism by IDR 20.7 billion and a reduction in working hours in the tourism sector by around 12.91 million people. This directly impacted SAU, which experienced a decline in visitors and income and was in a risk of closing.

DCI's social action in preserving our nation’s culture was implemented by providing support to SAU in the momentum of Sumpah Pemuda. SAU has been known as a destination for cultural tourism since 1966 as well as educational tourism, it has even been included in the list of representatives as one of the intangible cultural heritage of humanity.

"DCI collaborated with SAU with an online angklung rehearsal for DCI employees and performed three songs that would be shown on Youtube. We hope that this activity can contribute to the sustainability of SAU's business and we also invite more of Indonesia’s youth to take part in preserving our national culture. DCI's collaboration with SAU does not stop here, there will be other upcoming activities in the future," said CEO of DCI Indonesia Toto Sugiri.

In addition, DCI also provides financial assistance to support SAU's operational activities in facing the new normal era, where the tourism sector is slowly starting to recover.

The successor of Saung Angklung Udjo (SAU) Yayan Mulyana, said, "We are very happy and appreciative of DCI's effort in preserving culture with Saung Angklung Udjo. We hope that this kind of social action can be followed by more and more of Indonesia’s youth."

Development of the Nation's Youth Digital Talents

Another CSR activity that is carried out by DCI to increase digital talent for the nation's future generation is implemented by providing a number of facilities for teachers, vocational students, and universities to engage in professional work placement at DCI Indonesia's data center.

Digital talent has an important and strategic role in digital transformation, and there is an increasing need for digital talent as well. In line with President Joko Widodo's instructions, in the face of growing national digital transformation, the government has targeted the creation of 9 million skilled Indonesian digital talents by 2030.

"As an effort to support government programs and in the spirit of the Sumpah Pemuda, DCI Indonesia held an internship program and also provided job opportunities for Indonesia's future young digital talents," said CEO of DCI Indonesia Toto Sugiri.

Since 2020, DCI has started to hold internship programs for vocational  high school and university students, most of which are intended to be deployed in the work field of engineering, accounting and marketing.

This year, DCI Indonesia collaborated with SMK Mitra Industri MM2100, by providing assistance to support school facilities, preparing training programs related to mechanical and electrical in data center processing, and providing job opportunities for students. This CSR activity is in line with DCI's identity as a technology company that has a workforce comprising of 60% of employees from the millennial generation and hopes that this program can increase interest in learning about digital infrastructure so that in the future the students will be more ready to have a career in the digital era.

Lispiyatmini, S.Pd as the Principal of SMK Mitra Industri MM2100, said, "We are very grateful and welcome DCI’s program that was specifically granted to us. DCI's support in facilities and training programs are beneficial for our students in preparing and improving their competence to face the digital era so that they can become qualified individuals".
